I’ve never had any siblings who I’d share my room with, but at the same time I’ve never been completely alone. My parents were lovely enough to never prevent me from getting a pet, and I’m not even sure if they weren’t actually the people who got me the first one! I remember it was a tiny yellow canary and it was a gift for finishing first grade (or starting perhaps?). After it made its way to heaven, I’ve decided to get a budgie for a change. Obviously I had a thing for cute feathery creatures and my love continues up to this day.
Today I’m going to meet you with my current roommates, who showed up in my life absolutely uninvited and very much unplanned. One day I was getting ready to go to work, I was putting my shoes on and was about to go out, when I’ve heard a knock on the door. When I opened it, there was a guy (who I must say I’ve never met before) standing with a cage who said something like ‘I’ve heard you like them and I can’t keep them anymore, so here you are‘. WTF!! (excuse my language). Imagine my shock! I literally had no time to respond as he just handed them to me and left. They were such adorable fluff-balls, obviously I couldn’t leave them alone in the hallways….
As it’s actually forbidden to keep any pets in the flat and I will probably move out in the not-so-distant future, I’ve decided to give them for adoption. I’ve asked a few people here and there if they wanted two new friends, but no one seemed to be interested. I then uploaded an ad in this website for selling stuff (similar to Ebay). Needles to say that when I received a few responses from people who wanted to take them, I deleted it instantaneously! I’ve already got so used to having someone chattering to me all day and couldn’t imagine my life without it. They are not very social, as their previous owner hasn’t taken a good care of them, but just their presence is enough to make me smile and cheer me up a bit.
So yeah, that’s basically the story how I ended up with my two lovely chicken. I guess people don’t say ‘Be careful what you wish for‘ for no reason! When I get at my other home, I’ll show you my other couple! Thanks for reading and I’d love to see your stories of how you got your pet or if you don’t have any – what would you like to have! x
