Have ever heard about the magical K-beauty (Korean) skin care products? From the famous 7-9-10… step routine to the most adorable kawaii packages.. it’s literally everywhere! I’ve been reading a lot about it since I first started getting into make up, but never really had the chance to try it properly. Anyways, probably a month ago I’ve been contacted by a lovely lady from Wishtrend, asking if I would like to get a K-beauty product in exchange of a review. And I was like duuuh, I would love that!! I got sent the Dear Klairs Supple Preparation Facial Toner and I decided to give it a good few weeks of testing before actually writing the review.
Maybe I should start by mentioning my skin condition – it gets dry, but sometimes also very oily, I have lots of redness (especially after a contact with water), and tiny spots. I was hoping for a product which would minimize all that, but didn’t have any particular expectations. The toner the lady offered to send me promises deep moisturizing, cleansing and soothing, and skin pH balancing – sounds like everything I was looking for? Here are my thoughts:
Well, I really don’t know where to start from 😀
First, I was really surprised by the consistency. I expected a toner.. like normal watery one, but instead I’ve got something more like a serum (or a shampoo even), which by no means is a bad thing, just surprising. The scent is really strong too – it smells like lavender, and I’m already obsessed with it (I have 3 lavender candles after all). I personally find the scent of lavender oddly satisfying – sometimes it reminds me of a medicine, or a very expensive perfume.. it’s strange but also really good!
So you are probably curious already – does it work?
Yes and no.
First I like to layer it a few times, because it gives me a really cooling sensation. I also love it because it lasts me for such a long time – after applying twice a day I’ve used up no more than 1/10 of the whole bottle. I feel like I wouldn’t need to buy another one at least for the next half a year!
Next, I also do find it moisturizing, sometimes I don’t feel the need to apply extra serum or cream, because my skin feels very soft already. Yes, redness is reduced as well, and my skin is fresh and glowy.
Another hidden feature I found – that’s the best make up primer! I’ve tried Benefit, Smashbox, Balance me, etc, but I’ve never tried such a good primer. My foundation literally sticks to my skin like glue and doesn’t move the whole day!
However, if you are looking to buy a toner to cure your acne – well, I don’t think that’s your product. Personally I didn’t notice any change in the number of my spots. But I still get them, and many of my scars are there too.
Overall, I like how the packaging matches my newest fluffy pillow 😀
Apart from that, I love the toner and I will keep using it, and probably update you if anything changes. I like the scent and how good it makes my skin feel, but I will keep looking for a product that will actually get rid of all my skin issues, including pimples and scars. It’s a good make up primer as well and definitely made me feel optimistic about the K-Beauty trend! I’m now even considering the Vitamin Drops or the Sheet masks.
Have you ever tried any K-Beauty products? If so, did you like them? I’m excited to try new skin care products, so let me know if you have any recommendations for me!
