Tiny Blogging Rant: Expectations vs Reality

I’ve never done a post like this before, because I’m always trying to sound cheerful and optimistic. Blogging is something to enjoy after all..

Now I’ve spent 10 minutes doing my make up and the next 70 trying to catch the perfect light, body posture, facial expression, the sparkles of my shimmery eyeshadows and so on… I mean after I finished (not because I was done but because the sun was gone), I had maybe a hundred and something photos to scroll through πŸ˜€ And then when I opened my pinterest for some inspiration and saw those stunning photos, some of which taken with really low quality camera (the second picture for example), it just made me go crazy.

I mean seriously?! Just look at them!

Why do I need an hour to get just one average photo and they have the perfect super casual shot?!

And there it’s me: fluffy messy bun – missing; fabulous make up – also. Why they can do it and I can’t?! ;/

hello there

There isn’t an idea behind this post, to be honest. I just got a little bit annoyed that no matter how hard I work to make pretty pictures for my blog, I’m never going to have lashes up to my forehead, blue eyes deep as the ocean, and voluminous freshly blow dried hair. In fact, I’m a little bit scared of those round hair brushes.

The idea of this post is not to ask for compliments and nice words. It’s purely for fun and please don’t take it seriously. I laughed at my picture myself and obviously I am crazy enough to share it with everyone here (I seriously look like a cat just opened their owner’s front camera)

I just wanted to tell you something that you already know, but you need to be reminded about: Don’t compare yourself with other people because you are beautiful in your own way. There is always somebody to appreciate you for who you are.

(thank you Hazel for shifting the direction of this post)

Okay, this got a bit too cheesy. I’m out now.

Thank you for reading,

I feel you on the amount of pictures.. I just cleaned out my camera album on my phone yesterday, I’m embarrassed about the amount of pictures I take when I end up just using a handful. x

Great message, girly! I actually laughed out loud at your “lashes up to the forehead” comment πŸ˜‚ I totally agree! I think those girls look beautiful, but the over the top lashes just don’t work on myself personally either πŸ˜‰

    Keep doing you, boo ❀

I tried shooting with falsies but took them off after the first 5 minutes because they felt super heavy and … fake πŸ˜‚ But they look amazing on other people, I don’t know how they do it!

And thank you so much ❀️ btw, I’m not sure how to follow you. I don’t even have the follow back option πŸ˜“

I think that SO many people will be able to relate to this. We never really know how many images someone takes, what lighting equipment they have, whether they have a digital camera which can capture images better, or what filters they use.

I love your eye makeup in that photo. The girls in those images are wearing false eyelashes – judging how they flutter out at the sides. Not saying that it is wrong but realistically, many people’s lashes do not do that naturally. We are all beautiful in our own way as you said perfectly! πŸ™‚

I always end up taking at least 50 photos (if not more) to get a few ones I like. And even then, they aren’t as good as other photos I see. It’s hard not to compare yourself to others. I just try to think that those people probably don’t get a good photo after the first shot either.

Girl I totally understand what are you talking about, whenever I see insta selfies from most girls I’m like how are you supposed to take those photos, no matter how good my makeup looks it never translates to photo haha. xx

I agree, it’s totally super frustrating to get the perfect angle. I always end up spending a ridiculous amount of time taking photos for the blog and it gets so tedious! Your makeup looks so good!

But you looks so adorable though hahaha <3 I feel a lot of the same, when watching those stunning IG girls, and when you try to copy it you just look the mess hahaha. I think it's something everyone can relate on. There will always be someone that's better then ourself, but so what? That shouldn't be an obstacle for us πŸ™‚

As I’m reading this I’m thinking of the line I say EVERY time i take a selfie either by myself or with someone else…. For the love of God add a filter πŸ™‚
Its so hard not to compare and I mega feel your pain, no matter how hard I try a suck at Flat Lays…. Its like if I could conquer that I really feel I could take over the world ya know πŸ™‚
Either way I think your eye lashes are pretty slick….

I’m kind of obsessed with one of the filters in the VSCO and none of my pictures look alright anymore if I’m not using it πŸ˜€

And you are so right about Instagram and its flatlays, some people are just rocking it and it looks so effortless πŸ™

      Thanks a lot girl! <3

Love this! I have to take 5 million for one good one! If you want your lashes to look good on camera you have to wear falsies! Otherwise the camera won’t really pick it up! Also I’ve found that sunlight helps capture details. Also if you leave a window open, stand in front of the mirror and use the back camera of your phone the pics normally come out better. πŸ’–πŸ’–

It’s good to remember, nothing is as it seems online and to take a break from social media. I often ask myself, what would these people do without digital photography and you can just take hundreds of photos at no cost? πŸ˜›
