So this Friday 26th I casually popped in my local Debenhams and to my surprise (lied, I did a thorough research), Clinique were hosting their (annual) Smile Event and were giving away 500 free limited edition lipsticks. But in order to get a lipstick, you had to use their lip service first, and you know, we sacrifice everything for the collection.
The lip service itself was free. First they asked me to remove the lipstick I had on (and very much loved), then gave me a lip scrub (which didn’t even taste good), put some lip balm on top and finally let me choose a lipstick shade. The lady was very gentle and the lipstick she gave me was really nice as well, but everything I had to do was look in the mirror and say ‘hm, that feels really good’ and she’d reply ‘yes, that looks really good on you’. All I though was how uncomfortable everything makes me feel (and I’m sure she was thinking the same). Also, there was quite a queue behind me with at least 10 people waiting for the same service (which probably added up for my tension) and in my opinion, the whole situation was really awkward.
Anyways, I’ve got the lipstick!! And it’s sooooo pretty.
It has kisses all over its packaging, which I think is super cute, and if you throw some imagination, you could also see a lady winking at you. The shade is 13 Love Pop and it’s actually a combination of a lipstick and a primer. This one retails for £16.50 but unfortunately, it’s in its regular packaging, which is still gorgeous, but you know, no kisses on it. It kind of makes you feel really special, knowing you are among the 500 people who have the special limited edition, right.
First impressions of the lipstick – really creamy and moisturizing, it feels great on the lips. It also doesn’t dry down matte, but stays pearly. It’s not transfer proof, so you’d possibly need to reapply through the day. The shade is really pretty violet and I think it compliments my skin tone very well. I wouldn’t say I’d wear it on a daily basis, but I’d still appreciate sitting on my table.
Was it worth it? Definitely! I’d recommend to keep your eyes peeled for similar event in your local stores!
Have you ever tried their lip services or any of their products?

Never tried such a lip service before, but if I new there was a free limited edition lipsticks, I would be there hahaha 😀 It does look like a nice every day shade, that I see myself wearing 🙂
January 28, 2018 at 4:11 pmI haven’t tried it either, it was super awkward but it was worth it at the end. It’s a very wearable shade, but this pearly thing kind of puts me off. 😀
January 29, 2018 at 11:54 amWow i love the packaging and the shade! Nice review!
January 28, 2018 at 4:14 pmIt’s really pretty indeed! Thank you ^^
January 29, 2018 at 11:56 amOoo I’d read about the giveaway somewhere online! Sadly our local Debenhams closed down so I wasn’t able to get one so I’m glad I can live vicariously through your freebie. I think the colour is pretty too & I like that it’s moisturising rather than drying (which I find many lippies can be).x
January 28, 2018 at 4:32 pmOh no! I think they host it wherever their store is – it might be in Boots or House of Fraser?
January 29, 2018 at 12:00 pmThis shade is so pretty!
January 28, 2018 at 5:05 pmI have one Clinique pop lipstick, and I love it! The formula is really nice 😀
January 28, 2018 at 5:59 pmHaha, that whole situation in the store sounded incredibly awkward, but at least you’re happy with the purchase!
Oh you do! I’ve never tried anything from Clinique before. I’ve heard about their skin lines but never considered their make up 😀
January 29, 2018 at 12:05 pmIt was definitely worth it tho 😀
Didn’t even know this was a thing! I always seem to miss out on promotions. Love the shade and the packaging is just the cutest x
January 28, 2018 at 10:15 pmNeither did I but I’ve got pop ups all over my Instagram and Facebook for weeks! Maybe it was set for a specific location?
January 29, 2018 at 12:14 pmThe tube is adoable! The shade looks really wearable too (plus, FREE!) I’ve always liked Clinique lipsticks although there isn’t a lot of hype around them. I have the shade Bare Pop and it’s a great everyday shade.
January 29, 2018 at 1:39 amIt’s lovely, isn’t it! Their skin lines are so well know but I’ve personally never seen anyone talking about their make up, apart from maybe the foundation.
January 29, 2018 at 12:28 pmThe packaging is so fun! The colour looks lovely too 🙂
January 29, 2018 at 3:43 amHaha that certainly does sound like an awkward experience but hey at least you got a free lipstick out of it! And the shade looks so glamorous and pretty 🙂 xox

January 29, 2018 at 6:10 pmThat is such a gorgeous colour! I have never tried a lip service before, and I think I’d also feel a bit tense doing one!
January 30, 2018 at 6:53 amI guess it wouldn’t be that bad if there weren’t that many people waiting. Maybe you should give it a go when it’s quiet 😁
January 30, 2018 at 8:10 amThe packaging and shade you got are both so pretty! I’m sorry you had a super unpleasant experience getting the lip service, I think I would feel really uncomfortable too!
January 30, 2018 at 8:39 amI love Clinique but some of their products are a bit expensive. The products are always so high quality though so it makes up for the pricing. 🙂
February 1, 2018 at 10:52 amI’ve never tried any of their products, so I can’t say for sure, but their skin products are considered quite good 🙂
February 1, 2018 at 3:01 pmThe packaging is gorgeous, I love the lipstick colour it’s really pretty ❤

February 1, 2018 at 12:24 pmThe shade is definitely not my usual pick but the packaging is so cute indeed!!
February 1, 2018 at 3:02 pmPretty! I wasn’t expecting it to be so bright and pearly & the kisses are so cute.
February 7, 2018 at 10:29 pmHaha, I love events where you can get free full-sized products, but that does seem awkward! Especially if other people are watching you… Weird. Looks like such a nice lipstick though and sounds like it is up my alley with being moisturizing!
February 9, 2018 at 12:46 amThe packaging is so pretty! I haven’t tried them but I love the night mask for lips! It is a game changer. Followed xx
