Easy DIY peel off blackhead face mask – does it work?

I’m not a huge fan of home made masks, but I’ve seen this particular one all over the Internet. Basically you mix some gelatin with milk and your skin miraculously turns into white canvas without a single spot. I was very tempted to try it, and so I did. This post will follow the process step by step so stay with me if you want to learn if it’s worth it 😉

1. Mix 2 tea spoons gelatin with 2 soup spoons warm (but not hot or boiling) milk.

At least that’s what the recipe says. I’d say make them 1 spoon each, because at the end you gets too much product. Anyway, if you’ve never seen dry gelatin, it looks like granulated sugar. One of the options is to mix it with warm milk, and the other is to mix it and then pit it in the microwave for 7-10 seconds. Then let it chill for 10 minutes. If it gets too thick, just reheat it.

2. Put it on your face and wait to dry

So after you mix it and let it chill for 10 mins, it turns into liquid like milk, just a little bit thicker. Then you have to get a flat brush and put it all over your face – a foundation brush will do fine I guess. I put it only on my problem zones like the nose and the forehead. Then you leave and wait for the magic to happen.

I’m still wondering should I upload a picture of myself with the mask on. I look so terrified, so probably not, lol!

3. Taking the mask off and seeing the results

So you have to wait quite a long time to dry, especially in the summer, because it just stays warm! Maybe it would be easier in the winter when it’s cold.

Anyway, I waited enough and started peeling it off. It hurt a little, especially on the cheeks but it wasn’t too bad. So, does this work?

Does it work? Yeah, kind of. You can see some of my blackheads on the peel, but I wouldn’t say it was something amazing! My skin also felt very soft without getting red or irritated.

Would I try it again? Hell no. Like I said, it wasn’t something astonishing, although there were results to some extent. It had this disgusting smell that really put me off.

Do I recommend? If you can deal with the smell, then yes. It will not harm you if you try the mask, and who knows, you may see better results than me!

Have you ever tried something like this before?

I’ve seen this diy recipe so many times, but never tried it myself. And as you mention, everyone says it stinks really bad hahaha. I think I’m just gonna pass on this.

Well if they are harmless when you eat them, it should be the same to put them on your skin. 😁 but some foods are really gross indeed!

I actually tried gelatin with charcoal as i saw online that it was great way to get rid of blackheads but it actually did nothing for my skin, so disappointing!

I’ve never tried this mask before, but I usually opt for homemade masks when I feel like treating myself, since I don’t want ti spend a lot of money on skincare products 😛 If they actually work if you do it more frequently I wouldn’t know, I always tell myself that I’m gonna do it more, but I never actually follow through 🙂

Some masks are hit or miss, but it’s fun to experiment from time to time! You should absolutely try some 😊
