Hello everyone, I’ve just submitted my last assignment for this academic year and I have only two more exams to go! Not that you actually care, but I’m just to relieved at the moment, that I needed to share! Anyways, I’ve figured out that you very much enjoyed product reviews, so today I’m going to make one, yay! There is a lot more to come, I’ve got so many amazing goodies to share with you, so stay tuned!
So the product of the day is the Marcelle Make Up Remover, which I got in my March Birchbox. I’ve never heard of that brand prior to receiving the box, so I was really excited to try something new to me. Bonus points for it claiming to be gentle, suitable for sensitive eyes and hypoallergenic.
It’s consisted of two parts – one oily and one watery, so you need to shake it well before using (thanks god I got some bartending skills).
I have been testing this product for maybe a week or so, and I certainly couldn’t say that a little goes a long way. It’s definitely gentle, because it doesn’t feel stingy to my eyes, and it also says that it’s good for people wearing contact lenses. Nice!
It doesn’t have any fragrance or colour, which I guess is pretty cool. I use it after my Avene foam (you can read all about it here) to rub off any excess and stubborn eye make up. One time I’ve used it on its own, and honestly I didn’t find it to perform extremely well, so I’d just keep using it as a another step in my cleansing routine. I’ve read that some people find it to be too oily, but to me it’s just perfect – it doesn’t dry out my already dry skin, so I don’t need to use tons of moisturizers afterwards.
Would I repurchase: I believe this product is Birchbox exclusive, so if you don’t live in Canada or France, you can’t get it any other way. I’d really love to try some other Marcelle products, but unfortunately there isn’t any physical retailer in the UK at the moment.
Would I recommend: It’s not a bad product, it’s absolutely worth testing. Probably the only thing I don’t like about it is that it doesn’t have a pump at the top and dosing gets a bit difficult sometimes. But oh well, you can live with it.
I believe many of you got this one to try in their Birchboxes as well, so I’d love reading your thoughts about it! Thanks for reading, bye xx

April 24, 2017 at 2:48 pmSad that it’s hard to get hold of it, because it seems like a really nice product. We always need good makeup remover, especially for waterproof makeup. xx

April 24, 2017 at 8:23 amOh well, there is plenty of options to try anyway… it’s good not to be stuck with one thing only, so really I don’t complain! x

April 24, 2017 at 4:07 pmThis product looks like a decent cheaper option for the Lancome makeup remover. I haven’t tried it yet and I’m Canadian. 😛
April 24, 2017 at 10:15 pmIt’s so odd that I’ve been seeing some Canadian brands in Birchbox but the brands aren’t available outside of Canada!
You should definitely try it! The funniest part is that this thing costs CA 10$, which is I believe about 5 pounds… guess what? You can get it from Birchboxs for £15!! Yeah sure.. I’m not really a fan of this market strategy!
April 25, 2017 at 10:39 amOH my gosh! What a rip off! Yes, Marcelle is a drugstore brand – their pricing is similar to that of Revlon or L’Oreal so it’s a bit more expensive but NOT £15 expensive!
April 25, 2017 at 1:24 pmThis sounds lovely for removing eye makeup, and I love that they made it contact lens friendly 🙂
Congrats on finishing your last assignment and best of luck with your exams!
